THE CAMINO DEL CID ROUTE SHOWS ITS HIKING AND CYCLING OFFER IN THE NETHERLANDS
Utrecht, in the Netherlands, will host a new edition of Fiets en Wandelbeurs, one of the most important events on hiking, cycling and active tourism taking place in Europe from today until next Sunday the 26th.
During the days the fair last, information about the Spanish Camino del Cid route will be provided by Hans Resing, in charge of the content of www.fietseninspanje.nl, a website page dedicated to those Dutch people who desire to spend their holidays in Spain "by pedaling".
The Camino del cid route (Way of El Cid) is a cultural and tourist route that crosses Spain from the northwest to the southeast, from Castilla to the Mediterranean coast, along 1.500 km. It follows the history and the story of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, El Cid Campeador, a famous medieval knight of the 11th century and, together with Don Quixote and Don Juan, one of Spain’s greatest characters. Unlike the latter two, El Cid is not only a literary character, but also a historical figure.
Info about hiking and cyclist route (BTT, cyclotourism by road and gravel) will be provided to the general public and to those agencies and tour operators specialized in the sector that attend the event.
This is the second time Camino del Cid route participates in the Dutch fair. In this edition it shares stand with the Vía de la Plata Route. Both itineraries are part of the Cultural Routes in Spain, a tourist brand supported by Turespaña (the Spanish Government Institute for the tourism).
Fiets en Wanderbeurs has been taking place since 2005. After two years of hiatus, caused by the pandemic, more than 500 exhibitors resume this event that will take place throughout the weekend at Jaarbeurs, the Utrecht convention and exhibition center.
