AMAZON Prime Video announces the premiere date of the long-awaited epic series El Cid

La Catedral de Burgos, un escenario único para acoger la presentación de la serie "El Cid"

Amazon Prime Video has announced the premiere of the Amazon Original El Cid series on December 18th in more than 240 countries and territories around the world. The world premiere of the television series took place in the gothic Cathedral of Burgos (Spain), declared World Heritage Site since 1984.

The ambitious five episodes starring Jaime Lorente will tell the story of the man behind the legend of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar (c. 1045 – 1099), better known as El Cid Campeador. He was a Castilian nobleman and military leader in medieval Spain. The Moors called him 'El Cid', which meant the Lord, and the Christians, 'El Campeador', which stood for Outstanding Warrior. He was born in Vivar, a town near the city of Burgos. After his death in Valencia, he became a celebrated national hero and the protagonist of the most significant medieval Spanish epic poem, El Cantar de Mio Cid.

All the adventures in the El Cid series take place in the 11 th Century, one of the most fascinating times in the history of Spain, where Christians, Arabs and Jews coexisted in the Iberian Peninsula, facing wars against each others and forging alliances. El Cid is a story of adventure, love, intrigue, betrayal and struggle between those who hold power and those who hold authority.

El Cid is a Zebra production. Sara Fernández-Velasco is the executive producer along with Jose Velasco, creator of the series along with Luis Arranz, head of the script team. The series is directed by Marco A. Castillo and Adolfo Martínez Pérez, and with Miguel Alcantud and Arantxa Echevarría. The original soundtrack has been composed by Oscar winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel), and Alfonso González Aguilar, composer of the Oscar-nominated film, Klaus.
