According to El Cantar, several men and an escort of one hundred knights descended through the valley of Arbujuelo after having stampeded across the plain of Taranz, heading toward Medinaceli. Doña Jimena and her daughters were beholding Álvar Fáñez at this place, from where they made their way to Valencia, which had been recently conquered by El Cid. Both the hiking and MBT route of The Way of El Cid take hikers and cyclists along this valley, which was a very important route in the Middle Ages for those coming from Maranchón.
