After the conquest of Valencia, El Cid is said to have sent an escort of more than one hundred horsemen to look for Jimena and his daughters, who were waiting at Medinaceli in the company of Álvar Fáñez. The men passed through Albarracín and spent the night at Bronchales. Legend has it that Jimena and El Cid’s daughters slept at a house situated in Calle del Medio, número 4, which is recognizable because it has a half-pointed arch on the door.
