Historical-Artistic Centre of La Iglesuela del Cid

La Iglesuela del Cid, Teruel / ALC.
Ubicación:

Calle San Pablo, 2 La Iglesuela del Cid

La Iglesuela del Cid, listed as a historical-artistic centre in 1982, is a singular town, largely owing to the reddish colour of its stones and the ‘drystone walling’ technique, which has been designated as Intangible World Heritage.

The castle of La Iglesuela disappeared in the 14th century, but part of the keep, called Tower of Los Nublos has been conserved. Next to it is the Town Hall market and the Church of La Purificación, a Baroque building built over a previous Gothic church. A walk around the streets of the town will take us to some mansions and interesting large houses. Finally, very near the town, about 3km away, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of El Cid was apparently built over a Roman villa and is located in beautiful scenery.
