Historical-Artistic Centre of Calatayud.

Calatayud, Zaragoza / ALC.
Ubicación:

Plaza Joaquín Costa, 14 Calatayud

Calatayud was designated a historical-artistic site in 1967. The first indication of this for travellers is the Mudejar architecture, listed as World Heritage. Some outstanding examples in Calatayud are elements of the Collegiate of Santa María La Mayor, St Andrew’s Church and the church of Nuestra Señora de la Peña.

The Calatayud old town is fascinating not only because of its interesting churches but because it still preserves part of that atmosphere of a town in the first half of the 20th century, which can be sensed in some shops, houses and signs.

Travellers are recommended to go up to the castle, one of the most important Islamic defensive systems in Spain.
