Descending from Sierra de Miedes in the middle of the night

According to El Cantar, El Cid and 300 horsemen marched across the sierra de Miedes on the ninth day of exile, at the perilous limit of the deadline established by the king to leave Alfonso’s kingdom. From this site onwards they left Castile, moving into Islamic regions controlled by the Moors. They marched across the taifa of Toledo, which was an ally of Alfonso VI.
